So, Microsoft is steady trying to be an entertainment solution for the entire household just as they've always said. This past year, they've decided to add features to the Xbox Dashboard that cover live events. For example, there is a UFC live event application. While this app is really its own application due to all of the interactivity it features, it still feeds the same focus that Microsoft has had for years. They've also aired events like both of the political conventions, the Mars rover landing, E3 conference, as well as others that probably were featured as their own app as well.
There was such a huge list of big name artists performing that I knew I wanted to see at least some of them. Of course, since the event was televised live, it started kind of late here on the east coast. I wanted to watch Rihanna and Usher perform but they were on kind of late that night. So, I managed to hop in and watch No Doubt go through their hits.
Gwen sounded great and the band flew threw their songs with ease as if they'd never missed a beat.
At the very end of their set, the amazing P!nk came out and joined them on the song "Just A Girl". Not surprisingly, P!nk's voice showed all in attendance why she is such an underrated vocalist in today's music scene. The two played off each other really well during the short song and seemed to enjoy performing together.
Of course, once that was done, I was beyond sleepy thanks to my gorgeous 2 month-old daughter. I didn't want to see Green Day, Rihanna, Green Day, Lil Wayne Shakira, or Miranda Lambert, so I called it a night and decided to try to watch day 2 which would feature Deadmau5, Linkin Park, and other artists that I really wanted to watch.
It began with a spectacular performance by P!nk. I must say that after watching this amazing performance, I almost went and bought the 2 albums of hers that I didn't have AND her new one! She is probably one of the few true entertainers in this business that truely has a POWERFUL voice. As you can see in the picture, she literally flew throughout the entire stadium and sang her song as she did so. What was so amazing to me about it was that even when she was flipping and hovering upside down, her voice never waivered and was just as powerful and unrelenting as when she was walking around in high heels across the stage. She is absolutely amazing.
I didn't get a chance to watch Mary J's performance and I was FLOORED to hear that Prince came and rocked the stage with her!!!!
URRRGH!! Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about missing his Purpleness. It always makes me wonder when he does surprise appearances like this though. Does this mean he is going to drop a new album soon? A new tour? I guess with Andy Allo's new album dropping soon, he must be up to something. Still, we all know how well he promotes his own artists after their album drops.
Still, even though I wasn't album to stay awake to watch the whole thing, it made me a proud owner of Xbox Live!
